DRAGON BLOOD, 2017
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 90 H x 120 W x 4cms
Finished edges.

Native only to Socotra, an island group in the Indian Ocean, these haunting trees have evolved in isolation over millions of years.

They are known as 'Dragon Blood' trees, as when the bark is cut, it 'bleeds' red sap.
Sadly climate change is putting their future in danger.

This work tries to capture the almost architectural beauty of the trees contrasting with their baron environment.
